AOL CREDIT ALERT ripoff Trumbull Connecticut
I cancelled anything and everything to do with AOL today. I was "talked into" trying AOL Credit Alert and AOL Netmarket some time ago. I keep all of my paperwork and write everything down.
I cancelled my "trial membership" to AOL credit alert on 2-14-03- I talked to "Mandy". She informed me that she would cancel my "trial membership" but that it was still good thru mid April. She did not say that I would have to call back or anything.
Today when I checked my bank balance, I was in the negative!!!!! AOL Credit Alert took out $79.99. I got on the phone right away and told them that I cancelled in February. All I got from "Clarence" was that he was sorry and I would have my money back in 10 business days. What good does that do me today when my account is negative??? This is a total rip off and consumers should be aware that they will more than likely still be charged for their trial memberships even if they cancel!!!!!
When I called to cancel my AOL online account, I explained the situation to "Matt" and he said that it really has nothing to do with AOL......I'm confused........AOL Credit Alert has nothing to do with AOL???

AOL Credit Alert and AOL Net Market They are individual companies that compensate AOL to refer members to their call centers.

AOL Credit Alert and AOL Net Market are not a part of AOL. They are individual companies that compensate AOL to refer members to their call centers. AOL is in front of their name just like department stores have credit cards. It's just like how AOL has AOL Visa, they don't own the bank that handles the actual Visa account.
If you need to cancel one of these it's a different number than AOL online service. Hope this helps.
