AOL is EVIL, credit card billed after membership cancelation victimized many consumers the business that doesn't give a dam Internet Service Rip-off
I am an American living in Asia. I was home and living in the US for one month in December of 2000. I decided to use the AOL free trial for one month.
I disliked AOL and especially disliked the way the company trys to sucker you into things like a new long distance carrier when you simply want something else. Their way of doing business seems set up to take advantage of people easily. Especially the one-month trial.
I called to cancel my trial and I was still billed for over a year!! Sadly, I never use this credit card and the statements weren't being sent to me (since I live in a completely different country), so I didn't know that AOL was continuing to bill me.
After I finally saw the credit card statements I called AOL on a return trip to the US to cancel my membership AGAIN and AGAIN they continued to bill me. I am now told I can never get my money back.
I NEVER used the AOL services outside of the one-month trial . . I was so ripped off. I learned my lesson. An expensive lesson. And AOL is EVIL!
Please help me get them back!
