I received a free trial usage from AOL. Somehow AOL accessed a credit card number that I had not given to them. They continnually charged my account without authorization, nor with any reason to charge as it was stated as a free trial basis. I do not know how they acquired my carf number to begin with. I am going after this GIANT RIPOFF by ads media lawsuit or whatever is possible. This is a MISSION!!! Any help in my Quest appreciated!

What???

First for the person making this report, I am not taking AOL's side, as most, AOL screwed us over and I can not personally stand them. That being said, you had to know that they had your credit card number. Brad is right, you either have to provide a credit card number or a checking account number.

As far as AOL being FREE. Then why would they ask for such, this is AOL's way into their famous scam. As to Brad's comments on it being so simple to cancel. OK, we did, but appearently noone employed by AOL knows how to do their job. And if you notice, we are not the first, second, or even the last people that this has happened to. You shouldn't call someone an idiot when AOL and their employees are nothing less.

In close, more than likely, the person making this report, provided this information, believing, as most, that this service was free, just to find out that they've been billed. Now we know why AOL is having such a hard time staying in business. Don't worry though, it won't be long before they've made front page for filing Chapter 11. I personally can't wait.

AOL has double billed me for months

#4Consumer Suggestion

It may be part of the original agreement (charges after free trial), but AOL has been doing some pretty sleazy things recently and blaming it on the consumer.

I know of at least twenty people in my area (parents of my students, fellow employees, etc)who have been double billed. One woman I know was charged 4 times in one month!! AOL took at least $150 (it took me a few months to realize, long story). They said I let a screen name open an account(AOL charged my bank account!!. This screen name has always been inactive (he uses hotmail)

They would only refund me 47.80, offered me 2 free months (I'm dropping after that, I use RoadRunner anyway)then BILLED me for one of the free months!! I put a stop payment on my account. I wouldn't use AOL if it was the last communication on earth (well...maybe then I would. I am listing it as my address for now for people to contact me about complaints.

JUST THINK FOR A SECOND

You idiot just think for one second of your life, how would AOL get a credit card number if you did not put it when you signed up the account, it is also in the Terms of Service that you agreed to when you established your account. There is only 3 ways you can cancel your AOL account, by mail, by fax or by calling 24 hours a day to the cancellation dept, and its that simple, they may offer you some extra time but if dont want it say NO. Period
