I too am thoroughly disgusted with AOL. I have only used AOL when my normal high speed service was disrupted. I signed up for a welcome back service in April with a cutoff date of June 29 because my normal service provider had equpment problems.

I sent AOL a fax on May 18 that they admit to receiving. They sent a postcard back that said I hadn't signed the fax. I called them and requested cancellation. It didn't happen. I physically removed AOL from my computer the first of August. There has been absolutely no usage since that time and I have sent them two emails to cancel.
I finally called them on Sept 9 and, after a 40 minute dissertation with a cancellation "expert" on why I was putting my computer at high risk for not using their service, he agreed to cancel the service, with no refunds.
And this guy spouted all sorts of BS about how much it would cost me to duplicate their services and that without it the internet would eventually just suck my computer dry. Can you believe that?

I then talked to billing for another 30 minutes and they finally gave me a refund on the current billing, which is in advance, but no credit for the last month, with absolutely no usage.

I am taking your advice and contacting my bank to reverse that charge also.

I will NEVER
