AOL's policy of blocking cancelations has had a nasty twist in my case: when I was finally able, after much hassle, to cancel, they later reinstated my account and resumed draining my credit card.

In June I was able to cancel my AOL account, only AFTER the media expose of their practices. My account stopped working, as I expect. A short time later, they quietly reinstated it and resumed charging my cc.

I have contested the cc charges for three months, and now I have managed to cancel once again. I will see if they repeat the trick. Also, I will see if they pursue a claim with my credit card company to try to get the three months of bogus charges.

They really deserve a class action suit. The amount AOL Time Warner has stolen from customers trying to leave them has to be astronomical.
