AIG's Travel Insurance Claim Adjuster denied payment on our claim for baggage stolen from a car rental.  The vehicle was legally parked, on a major street in Barcelona, Spain, when it was broken into and all of our personal belongings, including passport and medicines were stolen from the trunk.  The incident was filed with the local police, and obtained an emergency passport from the U.S. Consulate in Barcelona.  According to the letter received from the insurance, the travel plan we bought through Expedia does not cover any loss resulting from theft while left unattended in any vehicle.  The "Plan" does not call for definitions of unattende vs attended vehicles.  Simply, the declaration of coverage includes a vague and general exclusion on items stolen from any vehicle, but the plan's language does not support the exclusion in any way, shape or form.  I also appealed the decision to a higher level, and in response, I received another letter from the claims adjuster, who made the original decsision to begin with.

My fellow travellers, I suggest that you read the fine print before you buy travel insurance.  It is a ripoff from every angle you look at it.
