My husband and I booked an anniversary weekend getaway and protection plan included.

After enduring a third surgery in May 2014, I needed a short but memorable vacation for July the 1st. But, in June we had to cancel, since my doctor certified that I still was not ready to travel and was within my recovery period.

Berkley denied my claim and justified their reason was that I had a "pre-existing" condition and under "that protection plan" my case was not covered. Since when does this travel protection plan classify and provide insurance options? Coverage is coverage; we are not dealing with a health insurance here but with a travel protection insurance.

They will have attorneys after them now!

And you will be the one paying those attorney fees. Just because YOU don't agree with their assessment doesn't invalidate that assessment. EVERY insurance has "bad points" and "good points". This is just one of the bad points. You DO have a "pre-existing Condition". That is YOUR CANCER!!! You had the big C when YOU signed up for the travel insurance. Due to your pre-existing condition YOU could not travel. So how in ANY stretch of the imagination is this THEIR fault for YOUR pre-existing condition? It isn't and YOU are trying to garner PITY online because of your cancer. Sorry, but the world doesn't work that way. Ok we get it, YOU have cancer. But it STILL doesn't change REALITY!!! What your post tells everyone who reads it is this........IM TOO DUMB TO READ!!!!!! All of this would have been information presented to you in a booklet. Probably handed to you at the time of purchase. If you made your purchase online, then you didn't read the attached link that told you all of this lovely information. Which means that you REALLY don't have a leg to stand on BECAUSE you agreed in whole to the terms and conditions of the insurance as it was presented to YOU at the time of your purchase.

It AMAZES me how quickly people LIKE YOU will turn around and bash a company online all because YOU DID NOT GET YOUR WAY!!!!! The insurance company had NO PART in the changing of YOUR travel plans. If they had, THEN you would have qualified for refund. Since YOU cancelled your trip, YOU get to eat the insurance. Pretty cut and dry if you ask me. No I don't work for them and wouldn't get into a plane even if you paid me. There is a reality here that YOU are chosing to ignore in favor of playing the victim. STOP DEFLECTING RESPONSIBILITY!!! This is ALL on YOU!! YOU made the choices that have led to this. Your doctor can go fly a kite, because his recommendation was that you don't travel so soon after your surgery. The insurance company DID NOT give you this information, so THEY are NOT liable for YOUR pre-existing condition. And if YOU think that "Its JUST coverage" and there are ZERO addendums and codices then YOU have a problem. YOU as an adult should KNOW that NOTHING is perfectly black and white. YOU as a member of society should KNOW just from your dealings with auto insurance that there are restrictions and limitations. How YOU can sit there and pretty much fabricate your "ignorance" is beyond me. Go ahead and sic your lawyers on them.....it will just be that much more you will have to pay at the end of the day. YOU did not read the insurance information and you seek to blame them for YOUR problem. This is one of the major problems in America now.
