While searching the Internet for a car to buy, I cama across a "free credit report" offer. I followed the link and got to places that asked some personal info, but then offered services to purchase. I did decline and left the site.

Forgetting the incident, I just looked toningt at the online VISA card statement to find a shocking charge of $28.33!

The weirdest thing is, it had been charged to a card that I have not used for at least 3 months since I have relocated to Canada and the card is US-based!

It is along weekend here, but I intend to call them on Tuesday. I sent an email requesting to overturn the charges. If they don't by the end of the week, I am disputing the charges with my VISA provider. To all of you - BE CAREFUL AND DON'T TRUST ANYTHING THAT SAYS "FREE" - there is no such a thing as free anything, and I know that these people are running a nice little scam; most people do not check their statements and if they do, not very carefully, and a few dollar charges are easy to hide on a statement, unless you are not using the card...
