Complaint Review: AP9*SAVINGSMART.COM 800-316-8774 AP9*SHOPPINGESSENTIAL+ 888-999-0564

I recently discovered charges to 2 companies (AP9*SHOPPINGESSENTIAL+ 888-999-0564, and AP9*SAVINGSMART.COM 800-316-8774) on several of my Amex statements. I was able to contact someone at the 999-05464 number, who indicated that they handled both of the companies, and that the charges were probably the result of my selecting a free month's trial of their services, which appear to be related to discount shopping on the internet. I certainly did not do this and I have no record of any correspondence from the company indicating that I had selected such services. I was also told that neither my name nor card number were in the company's computer system. After contacting someone at Amex I filed a dispute against the companies related to the charges on my statements and I also had the Amex representative contact the company. The result of that contact was that my name and account number were found in their computer system and that the charges have now been removed (at least I have a confirmation number to this effect!) I do not, as yet, know the result of the dispute.
