In November I saw a charge on my credit card bill from "Ap9*Simpleescapes" in CT 877-836-6903" for $9.95. I had never heard of (or obvioulsy authorized) charges from this company. I called their number and was looped through a recorded message and was unable to reach a live person or get any answer about my "account" that I apparently had.

I can only guess that Classmates.com, which I am a member of, sold my information to this "simple escapes" company, because I do not use my credit card that much nor do I have any other memberships in much else, especially online.

I called my bank, US Bank, and they said they would dispute the charge, and it was reversed. I asked them if they would stop "simple escapes" from charging and they said they could not stop, although they made it sound like it was taken care of. In December I found FOUR more charges from the same "simple escapes" all for $9.95 and I called my bank again. The credit card bank then said I would have to file a complaint in writing to them, and that they would "review" the complaints before giving me back my money.

Then I found this site (ripoffreport) where I learned that I have the right to my money (the refund from the credit card) and I will be calling them back.

So not only has "Simple escapes" ripped me off but US Bank has been difficult to deal with as well. I am upset with US Bank for not protecting their customers/consumer but acting more on the behalf of the fraudulent companies who do not deserve this type of protection so they can further rip off people and commit fraud. US Bank gave me a very UN-helpful attitude and "script" response which made me feel unheard and unhelped and unimportant. This doesn't usually happen with other credit card companies and so I will definately follow up with them-- and probably close my account completely.

UPDATE#2 to Ap9*Simple Escapes & myfico.com

#2Author of original report

I just got a hold of Simple Escapes, by calling 877-836-6903 and pressing "0" TWICE (if you push it once it will say "invalid selection".) I spoke to a representative named Leticia and she said I was signed up by going to the website www.myfico.com, where I hit a banner that would give me a $25. gift certificate to Lowe's (not true, I do not remember doing such a thing), and that I recieved an email about how to cancel the membership (another lie, I did not recieve an email). I then spoke to a manager named Audrey and she would not give me a refund past the most recent charge. She said that was in accordance with the "Terms & Conditions" (which are obviously fraud). I told her I filed a complain with ripoffreports and I would follow up with the Better Business Bureau. I now have to struggle with my credit card company, US Bank, to get those unathorized charges reversed as well.
