I signed up for Privacy Matters on Feb 20, 2007 and was automatically charged $1.00 by smart savings also. Don't know why they are or why they are biling me.
I called the phone# for smart savings (800-316-8774) to find out who they are and cancel the charge to my account. The phone options tell me to press 2 to cancel my membership and I did. Then it tells me to press 1 for cancelling membership and I did that too. Then it asks for my membership ID#, which I don't have cause I don't have a membership with them! Since I didn't enter that information, the automated service then says "thank you for calling saving smart, goodbye" and hangs up on me!
I went to their website at savingsmart.com and chose "contact us" and sent them email telling to cancel my membership and refund my money since I didn't signup with them.
I have received no reply. I just sent another email today.
I believe this company is some sort of sales for saving money on purchases or receiving discounts on stuff. I have never received any corresponsdence of savings from them and they keep billing me for a service I don't receive.
I looked up "AP9*savingsmart.com" on a search engine and located reports from others that they too have been charged by this company and that is how I found this link to report it as a ripoff.
