APC APC UPS can't even power my monitor consumer fraud ripoff West Kingston RI Nationwide
Several months ago Staples was selling an APC ES-500VA backup power supply for a decent price, and it had a $15 rebate.
I have a computer and a 19" monitor, and according to the packaging, the UPS would work with this setup for 4 or 5 minutes.
I wouldn't have bought it had the packaging stated otherwise.
To make a long story short, the first time the power went out so did my computer and monitor. Zap, right in the middle of a document I was creating and lost.
I figured it was a fluke. Then it happened again. Data loss again.
Just for a test, I just plugged the monitor alone into the APC unit. I then shut off the circuit breaker and guess what. Zap. Off again. The thing wouldn't even power my monitor.
I emailed APC- twice, and related this story. I suggested that they might consider giving me some kind of credit towards a larger UPS that would work with my setup.
They didn't even have the courtesy to answer me.
I have now gone back to using an old TrippLite UPS which is powering not only my 19" monitor, but 2 computers as well.
I will not buy another APC product. I can't say whether their products are good or not, judging by the POS I got stuck with.... but they obviously could care less about their customers. They could have at least had the decency to answer my emails.
APC you stink!

APC out of the box will not work. You need to open it up and connect the battery. I have owned several of these and after I did that no Problems. Have a nice day.
