Foundation repair comanies...

#5Consumer Suggestion

Sun, February 09, 2003

Some Foundation repair companies do a thriving business due to substandard construction on new homes, and sleazy advertising that makes people think it's "normal" to have your foundation fail. Report this contractor to every state agency and consumer organization that deals with complaints. TX attorney general, etc. Most of the gov't agencies and the BBB are a waste of time except for one thing--if you don't complain they can keep saying there's not a problem. The numbers of complaints do count.

The BBB is kind of a worthless formality but the FTC does study their records, apparently, to see what companies and industries bear investigation.

Also, I'm a firm believer in blasting bad companies on the internet like on the ripoff report. It's often the ONLY way other consumers have of finding out what companies are bad, or what the latest scams are.

Unfortunately Texas does not regulate contractors much at all. But there is an organization in TX that can probably help you: www.txbr.org Good luck.
