Complaint Review: Aplus.net

I have some of my domain names with aplus.net. When I signed up I asked there was an option to recieve notifications via us mail ( OR email ). I chose US mail.

I also checked the "automatic renew" check box. In the past they did not allow to bill multiple years at one time. So really this was the only option.

The credit card on file is active and has plenty of balance.

One of my domains ( out of 100 or so that I have ) was about to expire. I recieved no notification or invoices from Aplus and the autorenew did not kick in although via nothing on my side.

One day I went to the site ( which is fairly large ) and the site was down with a spam site in its place. The site that they put up was pure spam. It was actually viral spam where if you try to close the spam page another one comes up ... when you try to close that one another one comes up. You actually need to go in and kill your browser to get out.

Imediately I called in and paid the $9.99 that i owed. It took them 3 days to get my site back up. Firstly they recieved in excess of $300 from the spam that they got from my website. That is 30x the amount that I owed them.

Additionally, I lost a ton of customers and it killed my google rating and got me blacklisted on virus / spam sites.

If they would have contacted me I almost would have given them $300 to prevent them from killing my site.

When I contacted them they blamed me for everything and took no responsibility at all. I asked them for a refund of the money they took from my site as spam since this was their fault to begin with. They refused.

In fact they wanted to charge my $99 for them to check the status of the other sites that i have on there in autorenew with the same setup.

I have tried to discuss this with them and they seem not to care at all.
