Apple Computer Store At The Westchester Mall Sold me a lemon computer for $2,000 online with faulty hard drive that crashed does not stand behind their products and is not responsible for transferring data won't give me a replacement computer in the store since it was bought online and does not honor replacements policy gave me a hard time in store White Plains New York
Apple Computer is rotten! I purchased a custom configured $2,000 Apple Mac Book online back in November 2007. When I got it I turned it on, and it functioned badly with a kernal panic which they so-called fixed and now recently a faulty hard drive. I had an argument with the store employees and they almost kicked me out of the store! I told them that they sold me a lemon computer online and it never worked since I first got it! The store won't give me a replacement because they don't stand behind their product because it wasn't bought in the store it was bought online and they guarantee their products online. The computer was shipped directly from China and they obviously did NOT check it before it left the factory.
This is totally unacceptable! They did offer to install a new hard drive under the warranty and failed to pay for the data transfer and said I had to pay for an external hard drive for $139.00 to store the data and that it was my responsibility to transfer the data and not theirs.
THIS IS JUST UNACCEPTABLE AND WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! I'M GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT TO APPLE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS AND DEMAND THAT THEY PAY FOR THEIR ERROR AND I WILL THREATEN TO SUE THEM IN COURT! I'M SURE I'M NOT THE FIRST PERSON THEY RIPPED OFF!! THIS IS CONSIDERED COMPUTER FRAUDULENT AND UNETHICAL AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT APPLE!

You probably were slightly mishandeled my a few of the Newtorkers in the store but I garentee Apple will hook you up if you know how to play the game. Now I did not work for Apple directly but I was an applecare agent contracted by Apple. I worked out of Baltimore, Maryland.
Keep in mind that Data is not Apple's responsibility although they provide various ways to backup ur data to help prevent data loss. ALL HARD DRIVES FAIL AT SOME POINT. What you're saying is like trying to blame the bank because you lost your wallet.
Regarding the repair -Call Applecare and deal with their Tier2 agents only! Just call and ask for Tier2. They usually give u want ever you want. They want to make you happy - as hell! Trust me it's gross to see what they do for people. You just went about it the wrong way. Apple's policy is not to replace a computer unless it has been repaired, for the same repair, 3 times or more. So if the drive fails once that does not make a lemon. Replacing the hard drive should suffice. The ARS are not equipped with full data recovery service so they don't offer it.
Filing a complaint will not get you what you want! Calling Tier 2 will help.

First off, where did you get the computer? AAhh, yes online. It was CUSTOM CONFIGURED, not available in stores. Apple Retail Stores cannot make returns on custom configured machines bought at the Apple Online Store, because they do not carry those in their stock. To make returns you would have to go through either 1-800-APL-CARE, or 1-800-MYAPPLE. And if you would have gone through either of these outlets, I know, from experience that they would have taken care of this promptly.
Second - They almost threw you out of the store? And why do you think this is? Could it possibly be because it is a FAMILY environment? Through experience shopping, and taking One to One lessons at MY local Apple Store, I have seen firsthand, how they react when people act childishly and begin to yell and cuss at employees, they calmly ask them to leave. No one deserves to catch rash words, and judgement because of their own unwillingness to hear someone out.
AND they forced you to buy a hard drive to do a data transfer? I HIGHLY doubt that! When my logic board crashed a few months ago, out of warranty mind you, they told ME that a data transfer was free of charge. PLUS when I decided to go through Apple Care to have my machine fixed, the representative I spoke to on the phone also asked if I would like a FREE data transfer.
People who know and use Apple Computers, will see straight through this as I have, good job on doing nothing.
