My bank statement shows (3) debit charges of $99.00 that were made on 12/14/10 @ 11:52 pm. The charges are referenced to the Apple online store. I contacted the Apple online store at the number provided on the bank statement. The representative said the charges were for an extended warranty for an IPad computer. He told me the only thing he could do was escalate my complaint of fraud to his analyst dept. that handles these issues. I asked him for a reference number for my complaint and I guess he just spewed out a random number because when I called back today they said they don't have any information about this issue. Apparently the person who commited this fraud used my debit card number but did not use my name. I contacted my bank to report this. They sent me forms to fill out and get notarized. Right now I am waiting for them to get back to me. I will file a police report.

I checked my bank statement online today and I see that my bank was able to reverse the $300.00 charges. People, if you use your debit card frequently, make sure you check your statement on a regular basis. Also, be on the lookout for the scanners when you use your debit or credit cards. I frequently purchased gas on the NJ Turnpike with my debit card. A few months ago my bank sent me a notice that they were blocking all debit card transactions that are made at the NJ Turnpike Gas Stations. Criminals were systematically setting up scanners on the gas pumps and stealing debit and credit card numbers. I think I was notified to late about this problem. Take care and Happy Holidays!!!
