On July 17th my family was scheduled to fly to Cancun Mexico. All flights were cancelled because of Hurricane Emily. When I accessed the Apple Vacations website to find direction on what to do, it said to call your travel agent and rebook as soon as possible.

We contacted our travel agent and were unable to rebook until December 19, 2005. We couldn't secure the same resort so we had to settle for another. After we rebooked we were told that we would have to pay the price increase because we were traveling in "peak season". We had our travel agent phone an Apple Representative and received several different stories.
Finally we received a letter from Apple Vacations stating that they could not give us price protection because travel had to be completed before December 15, 2005.

None of this was ever told to our travel agent, or us, when we were rebooking, and they knew the reason for our change of travel date. We were never notified about the new "travel by" date so we could arrange the price protection for the trip. We now have to come up with another $1400.00.

It was very deceptive of the Apple representative not to divulge this information to our agent so we could be dealt with fairly. Now we cannot change the trip without penalty to us. We were unable to complete our vacation because of Hurricane Emily, and now we feel we are being gouged by Apple Vacations. This is the second time we have booked our vacation with Apple, and the second time we have had problems with them. Beware when booking your vacation!
