Upon arrival at Punta Cana Airport on Feb. 6, 2003, my companion and I and several other couples were told by the Apple Vacation Representative, that our resort, Secrets Excellence was overbooked.

We were then given a letter dated Feb.5,2003 offering a downgraded 7 day stay at a very mediocre resort, Melia Tropical, and 7 nights complimentay stay on our next vacation at our original resort, Secrets Excellence a 6 Apple resort, BUT WITHOUT AIRFAIR OR GROUND TRANSPORTATION!!!

We were given the option to return to Chicago on the next flight and forfeit the previous offer.

Apple Vacations' offer was dated Feb. 5, 2003, one day before our departure date, so they knew of the overbooking situation prior to our departure and could have notified us through our travel agent, called us direct, or even had the Apple Vacation representative tell us at O'Hare Airport prior to flight departure, at check in.

During the entire week of our stay, we encountered more and more people who experienced the same situation after they arrived.

We didn't get what we paid for, and aren't being offered equal compensation. We felt the loss of dollars and more importantly the expectation we had for our first vacation together.
