Complaint Review: Applegate Sweepstakes Prize

I received a letter from applegate sweepstakes prize inc., I called them .they asked me for my address and information on me to send me a check .
Aupon getting the letter there was a check inside for $4.850,00 in the letter it stated for me to call this # 01144-798-1701 whick is in the UK.
and he said to deposit the check in to my bank account and that it would clear in a few day,s and to call him back so he could give me the western union number
to send the payment for UK taxes and then they would send the balance of $45,150.00 to me .
He also told me that when he sent it that they would contact IRS in the U.S.A. to pay taxes here.
the check was a Bank of America so I went to a branck near me to cash it they said it was a counterfit so I reported it here on Ripoff Report
