Complaint Review: Arbor Village

first we moved into Arbor Village as a result of loosing our other place of residence to a natural disaster. so we needed to move fast. when people who we knew found out where we move thats where I gained knowledge of the past deeds of this company which sounded like horror stories. 

from the neighbors I learned of people whos personal property was locked inside of the units and the were not allowed to take their property. As a result of personal property being left in the unit they would then charge you for property damage as a result of them locking up your personal property and threatening to call the police if you attempted to take property. but that is only the begining. when you sign their rental agreement there is written into it that if you do not stay for a year you will still be paying them for a year but the payments you make to them seem to disapear wich is also the case with rent paid.

now to my story: we stayed in arbor village for about three months in all. in mont two I got behind two weeks. I told them that I had a student loan check coming and that we would take care of it then. I first had to show and verify that i had a check coming. Bad mistake. when it was found out that I had a sutdent loan check coming now the amount of weeks that we were behind magically increased to two months but keep in mund we only been there for two months this is clear that this guy wanted to take my money just because he wanted it. they waited untill I got my student loan check and i paid them everything that they ask for. as soon as they got my money I got a ONE-DAY eviction notice. that means that we had to get out the next day. We were in shock and broke because we had just submitted to being robbed of money we didnt owe.

now we have to figure out where to live whith no money I had to drop out of college as a result.

now on to more robbery...

now because of the clause written in the rental agreement we still had to pay them monthly for a year while homeless. my mother entered into a verbal agreement with I think Chris was his name that if she made the payments that they would not damage her credit file. afew months went by and my mother checked her credit file and guess what??? they damaged her file anyway. so she stopped paying them if you dont honor our agreement why should we right. first of all its preditory and wrong to force someone to pay you thousands of dollars for no reason. second we didnt move out they took all of our money then put us out in one day. keep in mind my mother is 64 and was expecting a standard rental agreement and not a license to rob her and put her on the street. the day we moved out there were a mass of people flooded in the office contesing there rent saying they had been paying on time every week but they got letters on there door about being behind and late charges. apparently this is a very common occurence at arbor village. 

after this ordeal that left us homeless for two years made me lose my education and have to now payback my student loans we get a letter that says that they are suing us for 5000.00 and are now trying to take every peice of property we own even the house so these people are once again trying to leave us homeless. 

I know they are going to try to rebut this but everything that come out of their mouth is a lie. their primary purpose is to prey on the poor and to use your misfortune to make them selves richer. I read one rebutal that they said the truth goes a long way. my response is how the hell would you know. If any media is interested in investigating this company contact me immediatly. I am willing to go on the frontlines against this menace. our court precedings start soon also.
