My husband is currently serving in the Military. While he was in Iraq I wanted to do something nice for him so I bought him a 2001 Chevy Tahoe. I traded in his Suburban (it was old) and turned in my Jetta (soldiers and sailors relief act) in order to make sure we would be able to afford the payment.

I was very good about paying my payment on time and did not have any problems. When my husband returned from Iraq, the first two paychecks we received were not right. After getting it all straightened out through the Military I contacted Arcadia Transouth and explained to them what was going on. They were very rude to me. I ended up hanging up and stating to my husband that they will get the payment as soon as we got his paycheck.

Three days later (because I was two days late) they were calling my home. At first I did dodge the calls because of how rude the man was to me to begin with. When I finally answered their call 4 days after payment was due they proceeded to tell me that they did not care about our financial burdens.

They wanted me to try and borrow the money from someone (Friends or family or even get a loan) and pay them that day. I tried to explain to them that it would only be another 3 more days. THey did not want to hear it. The guy was calling me a liar when I tried to explain to him about my husband serving in the military and his check was incorrect.

I finally had enough when the man proceeded to tell me these exact words "Do you think your husband is special just because he just came home from Iraq? Where in Iraq was he? I was in the military and so I would know if you were telling me the truth. Tell me where he was at in Iraq. If you can tell me where he was and what Battalion he is with, what his SSI and his MOS is, I will let you pay your payment on the day he gets his check. If you cannot tell me these things, You will have your payment to me no later than 5pm my time."

I was appalled. I just hung up on him. They continued to call and leave harrassing messages on my machine.

We still have the car and we are still one month behind. I am trying to catch up but it seems like they just keep tacking more things onto our grand total. I am not sure what to do. My husband is getting ready to leave for a year to Korea. I would give anything if I could refinance our truck with an honest company. Our truck is all we have but it doesnt seem as if we are ever going to get this thing payed off. Please if anyone can help me with any ideas I would surely be appreciative. We have not even had the truck a year so I have been turned down 3 times for a refinancing.

I want away from these rude and beligerant jerks!

I too just had a long battle with this company myself over an unauthorized car payment taken out of my bank 10 days ahead of schedule. I was hung up on several times, spoken to so rudely, it was very unprofessional. The reason I called my payments in was I used to mail them and they would call and harrass me 2 days after the due date if it had not been entered into there computer and I was sick of it. I too am looking to refinance and as far as the person from New York, either you don't know what your talking about or you are from this company and further prove the pompous, arrogant, unprofessionalism of this Company. Good Luck to you Chrsitiana.

This message if for Christina.. Im very sorry that several reps at my company have treated you this way... We are not all horrible there are several alternatives available to help you get back on track.. if you would like you can send me an email at lisa.m.hutchinson@citigroup.com and i can assist you with a deferment or possible a refinace to help you get the payment down and back on track. I have all the respect in the world for your husband he has made an amaizing sacafice for his country by being in Iraq.. My brother in law is in the marines and just returned from his second tour so i do understand you frustration and i would really like to help make your experience with Transouth/Autoone a better one.

Here's an idea: try telling the truth.

These people may be everything you claim, but they aren't ripping off the military. Your husband is the one in the military, not you. You were the one that made this deal. You were the one that failed to pay. You were the one that hung up on people trying to collect on a legitimate debt. You are the one that admits dodging their calls. And by the way, if you only needed the money for 3 days, why is the bill now a month late?

Did you think of going to his First Sergeant? How about the on-post assistance agencies? Nope, didn't think so.

I agree that there is a ripoff here. You are driving a car you aren't paying for. Sounds like a ripoff to me.
