Complaint Review: Archos Best Buy

Archos, Best Buy Falsely deny $50 rebate off Irvine California

I purchased an Archos Recorder at Best Buy in Fort Wayne IN in Dec 2002. It was clearly marked as $50 rebate in the store. The stores computer printed out the rebate form. I mailed it in and was denied because they say "It wasn't filed during the rebate period." I called the number on the rebate form Dec 2003 and was told it was too late to do anything about it. I called Best Buy and they said I would need to call Archos. I have copies of everything I mailed in.

I gave up on this issue because I don't have a lot of time to spend prying $50 out of these people. It will hurt me more than them to go after this on my own.

However, if there is a lawyer out there who would like to form a class and sue these guys for enough to make it really hurt, I would gladly provide my information.

Irvine, CA BBB contacted me

The Irive BBB finally contacted me. They said Arcos tried to call me, but couldn't reach me so they mailed a letter. I'm in the middle of a move, so that is plausible. I didn't have time to respond in their 10 day window, nor have I been able to get my mail in the past couple of weeks, so I'm calling it even. Thank you Rip-Off report. This forum helps to even the playing field.

Best Buy Makes Good - Archos Doesn't

I filed BBB complaints against Archos and Best Buy. Best Buy responded with a $50 gift card. Archos and the Irvine BBB never responded. I'm satisfied. I have my $$ and know to avoid Archos and businesses based in Irvine, CA in the future.
