Complaint Review: Area Circulation Inc 1-800-324-9452

Company calls and charges a saved credit card number without proof of who is on the other end of the phone!!!

I had noticed unautorized purchases on my credit card. I called one of the companies and they gave me a number of Area Ciruculation (a company that calls residents to get them to purchase several magazines)

The company had my credit card information and I never gave it to them. I asked what was purchased and they gave me a list of magazines that were delivered to my mother(where I previously lived) house under my maiden name. At least 10 different magazine titles were delivered to my moms house. She is a senior citizen and did not notice she was recieving magazines under her name and my name (doubled magazines). She must of acepted the magazines by the phone call.

But what I am mad about is how they did not need proof of identity or how they had my credit card number in the first place (I never ordered any magazine before). My mom never knew my credit card number. when i called to find out about it they tried to scam me into buying magazines and giving them my current number. I was told that I cancelled the subscriptions (How can you cancel something you never ordered) and I was put on the do not call list. Company name was called "Area Circular" and Magazine Special" by different magazine companies when I can to ensure the magazines were going to stop being sent. same telephone number 1800-324-9452
