Complaint Review: Area Ciruclation

When I first got the call it awoke me from my nap. (maybe thats why I couldn't see through this) Some one told me that I had a chance to win a million dollars. All I had to do was purchase some magazines for five years, by paying for it all in 12 months.

The deal was I had to pay for espn magazine for five years and I get five others. I just had to pay $74.75 a month for 12 months. They convince you that this cheap after they do some math very quickly. Right then I should have known something was up.

At first it sounded alright I thought that maybe I could convince my roommates to help pay and they could pick a magazine. I figured that since it $74.75 a month, split five ways, wouldn't be so bad. So I got on board.

After it was all done I asked where I could find a list of magazines and what to do if I had to cancel. They pointed me to their website for the list, which is a piss poor site at that. Then came the fun about canceling.

I was told that I could cancel but only in extremes, they would much rather me just pay less or miss a payment. (The only honest thing that I think they have ever said) But I made sure I could cancel.

Well when I got online I forgot the website because I didn't think I would need to write it down. I went on google and was surprised to see ripoffreport.com toward the top.

After reading the reports I called back and tried to cancel. Fun times await. They told me that I couldn't cancel because they just put me in the system. So I thought, "Ok, I will call back in a day or two when i am in." Then they told me that I am already billed!

How is that possible? I am not in the system, yet they billed me! I was reassured that this website lies, ripoffreport.com, and that I made the right choice in purchasing their magazines. Then was told if I would like to cancel to read the material in the mail and then make my decision.

Well I got a job that paid well so I was not concerned about the payments for a month. Then I shattered my elbow, which led to many bills, draining my bank account, oh and not letting me work. Since I have no use of my right arm I cannot work. This is a very extreme circumstance, not to area circulation.

I called them today and stated that I shattered my elbow, can't work and have no money in my account. I told them not to bill me anymore, and I would like to cancel. Then I get angry inside, I remain calm on the line. I am not allowed to cancel since I "confirmed" my order on july 27th. All they can offer is that I don't have to pay anything until November.

I got somewhere, but I need more than that I tell them. Due to how bad the injury is, I have no idea when I will get back to work. So now the deal is only $25 a month starting in November. Still I push to cancel saying that this is an extreme situation, I understand I may have agreed and you have sent out and order, but I have yet to see a magazine so just cancel it. I finally tell them that I have so much money troubles on my mind, canceling would be best.

Now I have a trap set. I was told that I will no longer be directly billed, they recorded this supposedly. So on the fifteenth nothing more should come through. And I should get a bill that I have to pay with paper not direct deposit. If I get money pulled out on the fifteenth, then I was lied to.

I could then certainly file fraudulent charges at the bank. Does anybody know any legal charges that I could push if they bill me on this time around? Hopefully they don't charge me and I don't have to worry.

Please If you get a call from these people don't accept anything from them. sadly if you are reading this it is probably too late. Good luck trying to cancel.
