To fix a problem with my woodstove I came across Aremco's Pyro-Putty 2400 product that claimed to produce a "weld-like" bond between cast iron and steel metals. After wasting many hours preparing the parts to be bonded and following the 24 hour cure time, the putty only held for a week and a half. After contacting customer service I was asked to try again, which produced the same failed results.
At $35. (plus $10. shipping) for an eight ounce container I expected it to work. Frankly it weren't for two metal clips also supporting the piece in question I don't think the putty would have held even a week.
