Complaint Review: Aromatica / Canadian Institite of Myomassollogy

Aromatica / Canadian Institite of Myomassollogy Jeff Cottam and Sarah Rankin As an educator Jeff Cottams practices appear to be questionable he will tell you you can open your own school if you pass his $6,700 course but very few students would ever open a business with him as Lions Head , Ontario Canada

Aromaticas' owners said they would provide heat to the classroom and accommodations quickly, after 2 months and frequent days and nights of freezing temperatures we were not adequately provided with heated or safe washroom sewage.
The sewage became an issue when the owner opened the containment system onto the grounds twice.
He kept my fees which were $6,700 plus accommodations costs after I complained. Without a refund Jeff wrote me saying through his lawyer I was not to return to finish my course if I had health and safety concern.I had to call the municipal government to have safety by-laws enforced 3xs.

Jeff is now directed by the city to not use his classroom that he advertises on his web site and that he can only use 1/4 of his very small house. In Sept.2010 his classroom situation was not in compliance with by-laws.
Jeff also is being further investigated by the health board for health and safety violations. He tells officials that he is not doing acupuncture but, he told me to bring in someone for an acupuncture treatment.
Aromatica is a Rip-off !!! Jeff Cottam refused to provide me with a copy of his Dr. of Acupuncture doctorate that he claims to have earned and not bought the honorary degree from Holland.

As a couple that teach holistic heath and practice alternative therapy Jeff and Sarah do indeed have a very unhealthy business and home.
Jeff also made each student massage him to pass thier initial practical exams saying that that was the only way he could tell if we were doing it right.YUCK a very disturbing activity. Yet further partials were done on fellow students and volunteers. Yes, he appeared to be one twisted man with more ego than brains.  He lied to my fellow students several times regarding my complaints and said they appeared suddenly after I complained for 4 months with no resolve to health concerns.

Save yourself the money and the time away from home and go to a reputable school not these shysters.

This anonymous report is completely false

Hello

This is Jeffrey Cottam.  This report on here is totally fabricated and there is not one bit of truth to it.  You will notice that the person writes anonymously which ought to tell you something.  The person's name is actually Kim and she lives in Beaverton not Wiarton and she attended my school for training in 2010.  She missed many classes and after 5 months of a 6 month training program she requested her money back.  I have never had anybody before this ask for their money back... ever.  She was refused.  This is normal policy for any school when text books and manuals have been issued and the course is almost over.

She advised me that if I did not re-imburse here she would call authorities and make complaints about me and my school.  I refused because there was nothing wrong with her training and the other 6 students in her class did not have any complaints either.

She then advised she wanted $10,000.00 deposited into a certain bank account by the following Thursday or she would make some type of complaint to authorities.  Of course I refused.

However, I did offer that she could complete her training and take her exams but she declined. This was tantamount to blackmail.

Some time later I was contacted by my municipality and the local health unit regarding various unsafe conditions and health concerns supposedly on my property.  Various agencies arrived while I was teaching and they spent 2 hours on my property and in every room.  They found no problems and advised me that they had no concerns and would be contacting the complainant to advise the same.

I contacted my lawyer and the OPP because the complainant and her husband had close connections to a bike gang (they were bikers).  The police advised they had an arrest warrant for this person and her husband for trespass if they were on my property and all I had to do was call them.  My lawyer advised this person (Kim and her husband) to stop harassing me.  This was the end of it, gladly.

The report that Kim has filed here is totally false and there is not one word of truth.

The students in her class did not agree with Kim whatsoever and continued with their training and graduated.  If you wish to speak to any these students to corroborate my story, please contact me and I will supply their names and contact information.

Thank you.

Jeff Cottam appears to be a fraud and slanderious

#5Author of original report

His report rebrutal appease to be a work of fictitious slander which can be substantiated by me with recordings of his statments of guilt which I made for my own use and photos of the aromatica grounds. I did ask for a refund and some of my expences which would total aroud $20,000.00 but was asking for a fractional reinburcement of in the form of a certified check because i did not trust him to write a good check after being so decieved.  The township told me after the full investigation that several of the buildings were to be torn down and his retreat style trailers must be removed or he would be fined.   Reply from aromatica re opening a schoolOn Thu, Feb 18, 2010 at 7:48 PM, Aromatica <aromatica@amtelecom.net> wrote:

This all sounds wonderful.  It is realistic and very 'do-able' too.  No pie in the sky scheme.  I am extremely happy to assist you in any way possible..

----- Original Message ----- .this is a direct copy of the e-mail jeff sent me before recieving my registration money regarding opening a myomassology school here and myself applying for government funding which was not available. I never recieved an out of court settlement from anyone other than back child support that was owed by my four childrens father after 7 years of mediation through lawyers. Nice story yet Jeff`s responce is what looks to me like a libalious story. As for missing classes the conditions were exasperating  personal health conditions for which I and my husband required medical attention.  I choose to not play nice with such a harmful situation. I wish him all the best and hope he finds reallity soon. If his training is so great why is A. trying to get into a registered  massage college after graduating from your one and only myomassology school in Canada. Guess Myomassology is not as equal as he claims. This is a copy of  his sales pitch.

RMT's receive in Ontario (they have only 350 hours of hands-on training the balance of the hours in their program are devoted to Anatomy & Physiology classes plus Pathology including the dissection of human cadavers in the classroom setting) and Myomassology training also costs less than a quarter of the cost of RMT tuition.  So, the threat is definitely one they fully realize and wish to disrupt if they can by using trademark legislation and restrictive policies.``

R M T are registered health professionals, with a professional Ontario college and a strict code of ethics. They do much more than 350 hours of hands on. Look it up on the OCMT web sit don`t be fooled   The N.H.P.C. is presently investigating Aromatica and its questionable ethics practice. Peace  Kim

This accusation is false.

The allegations made by this person are totally false.  The students in the same class with her distanced themselves from her 'complaints' and wrote letters of support for the school and instructor to be used if necessary in court if this person continued with the false allegations.  A lawyer contacted her and advised her that if she continued to make false accusations it would be a matter for the court.

The municipality and the health unit responded to her allegations and conducted a 2 hour investigation on site with the other students on site and present during the investigation.  The investigation showed that there was no truth to the allegations and the person who filed this complaint was contacted by the agencies involved and advised about their findings.

This student was contacted and advised that she was welcome to continue her training and finish the program but she declined to do so.

If the allegations were true she would print her name and also her contact information on the report but she does not do so.  If you are telling the truth you should not hide behind anonymity and not put a false address on the report.  Her name is Kim Quaid-Auestad and was supposed to be opening a B&B business called 'By Still Waters' in Beaverton, Ontario.

That was the last I heard of her.  She wanted to offer massage services at her B&B and that was the reason she took my training but she missed coming to class on several occasions because of personal and family problems at home.  She was getting behind in her studies and one of her fellow students said in class that she thought Kim had got "buyer's remorse" 3 months into the 6 month program and decided not to continue with her training and was just trying to get her money back.

This student told me that Kim told her that she had received "out of court" settlements on previous occasions by making complaints about people or services before.

By the way, Kim contacted me and told me that she not only wanted her tuition fee back ($6,795.00) she demanded I place $10,000.00 in  her bank account or she would continue making the allegations.

I refused.

For your information.
