I recieved an offer through the mail from Associated Recovery Systems, a Debt Collector, which stated that they would "settle in full" the debt they held, if a payment of seventy percent of the original ebt, (inflated by several hundred dollars in fees) were received by 8/12/13. I called them and spoke with a Helen Mitchell, who assured me that the offer was genuine, and that in fact what would occur is that my debt would be satisfied, and I would need to call them twenty one days subsequent to payment in order to recieve documentation of the debt settlement in full. After sending 1746.42 on 8/6/12, I received a letter from them on 8/10/13 indicating that they had received this payment, and that I had a balance due of 748.47, and stating that I was AGAIN eligible to settle the account for a discounted amount, suggesting I call my account representative at 888-238-8232 and ask about a "settlement in full" today. This letter was signed by Philip Shepherd x 2476, rather than Helen Mitchell, with whom I had previously spoken as my "account representative".

I am genuinely angry at being lied to....I always had every intention of paying the debts incurred after two family deaths and a subsequent family illness which led to income loss. I had recently taken on a third job, even as a Senior Citizen and I had saved just enough to make this payment so the offer was fortuitous. Unfortunately both the offer and the company are disingenuous.
