Art Instruction Schools Art Institute The Art Institute would not allow me to cancel my child's enrollment. Minneapolis Nationwide
My husband and I recieved a call from a representative of the Art Instruction Schools wanting to set up an appointment to speak to us about our son earning college credits by way of the Art Instruction Schools. Since our son is a high school we were such into this scam. Initially we were told that we could cancel at any time, but now we were told that our cancellation priveleges are no longer available since he has completed over half the program, meaning we owe over $2,000 that we really can't afford to pay! I don't know what will become of this, but to other parents out there that are considering this for their child, be mindful of these unethical policies put in place by these companies. It's purely not worth it.

As a representative of Art Instruction Schools, I would like to address the report filed against us.
Art Instruction Schools has been enrolling students in its educational program for the past 100 years. We have trained some of the top artists in the country. We are accredited by the DETC, (Distance Education and Training Counsel) which is approved by the United States Department of Education and meet the various state requirements for distance education institutions.
With these various credentials, Art Instruction Schools provides its student population with the highest ethical and business standards. As part of the high business standards maintained, the school wants to make sure there is no misunderstanding on the part of the student. We provide every potential student with an enrollment agreement. This agreement sets forth the terms and responsibilities of the enrollment for both the school and the student.
Cancellation privileges are part of the enrollment agreement. The school provides each student a five day period from the date of enrollment to cancel without any financial or educational responsibility. This five day period allows the student and/or parent ample time to understand the terms of the enrollment agreement prior to becoming responsible for its terms.
Cancellation privileges are determined by the state in which the student resides. This student’s state of residence specifies that once a student has completed 50% of the educational program cancellation privileges are no longer available. This student has completed 75% of the educational program. At this point cancellation privileges are no longer available to the family. Management staff of Art Instruction Schools did explain this to the parent.
Art Instruction Schools values each and every one of their students. We hope the family understands the state requirements the school must follow. We also hope to see this student finish their coursework and become the better artist they set out to be when they first started the Fundamentals of Art program.
