My first visit was my last. I scheduled an appt for a Thursday, showed up and the lady laughed, "we are always booked at least two weeks out. Our regular customers know this so I normally don't have to tell people". Never met a more snooty person.

Once I had the right day and had the exam,  I found their contact lens prices to be almost double what others charge. Because of this,  I tried to purchase through Costco. Art of Optiks was very difficult to work with when trying to transfer my prescription. Once we had it transferred, Costco tried to use my VSP dollars towards the purchase but found out my  allowance had been  used  for the entire year even though I had paid out of pocket for my eye exam at AOO.

After some investigating, we discovered that Art of Optiks had double billed.  Even though I had paid them for my exam, they billed VSP as well and collected the money from both of us.

When confronted, they claimed it was a clerical error and refunded my money.  Problem is, since  they  billed VSP for my exam, my allowance was considered used for the year and I lost over $100.00.

Most eye doctors will write a prescription that is good for 2 years, especially if your prescription is fairly stable. Not here, you only get a 1year  prescription  forcing year after year payments.

Beware of the scare tactics for their unnecessary  and expensive tests.  They actually had the nerve to tell me that my optic nerve had only 1% of the normal fibers and this could mean the onset of MS. They recommended  I  come back every two to three months to make sure my optic nerve did not continue to degenerate. If they think I might have MS, wouldn't a regular Dr. be more appropriate? Yikes.

Losing $100.00 in today's world of expensive health care is unfortunate and why I will never go back.
