My wife and I purchased a house in Locust, NC. We were moving from MA and had not yet sold our old house. We decided to have the ASG security system that was installed by the previous owner tuned on. A friend of ours in NC signed the contract for us as presented by the installer. I spoke with the installer over the phone to verify that this was okay. The paperwork was signed and all was well, so I thought. About 1 year later, we had a death in the family which changed all of our plans. We were forced to sell the house and move back to MA after about 9 months. That was May 2008. We called ASG and asked to have the system turned off because the new owner was not interested in continuing it. ASG then told us that we had locked into a 5 year contract and that we were liable for the next 3 1/2 years of coverage, which was not made clear to us upon signing with them. It didn't matter that we were forced to sell the house due to a death in the family and move back to MA where ASG does not do buisiness. So, we are in debt to them for over $800 and it continues to mount. Even after a number of phone calls, their stand is firm. One item on their mission statement has to do with fairness to their cutomers, etc. Somehow, I feel they are not living up to that mission statement.
