I purchased a Dining Room table and chairs from Ashley Furniture about a year and a half ago. The salesman told me that it was solid wood and Ashley's top of the line dining table. I purchased the set for around $2000 and it was delivered and installed by Ashley. Everything was fine until the first time that I tried to move it to clean under it. Upon moving the table the legs broke off. I spent countless hours calling the store I purchased it from as well as corporate. It was like dealing with a children afraid of being in trouble. The store would tell me to call corporate and corporate would tell me to call the store. After countless back and forths over several months i was finally able to purchase new legs for the table. Yes, I had to buy them, how ridiculous. I received the new legs and installed them. Now I took a further look at the broken legs and have discovered that they are not even wood at all. The legs that they are using to hold up this very large table are made out of fiberglass and painted to look like wood. This is absolutely ridiculous and fraudulant. If the table is not real wood then do not claim it is. Also, how do you expect a thin 1/8" fiberglass mold to hold up a heavy table. Ashley manufactures this furniture so they know very well that it is not real wood. They are just trying to rip people off.
