Ashley Furniture Value City DOESN''T STAND BEHIND EXTENDED WARRANTY Langhorne Pennsylvania
We purchased 2 recliners with matching ottomons that were over $500 each from Ashley Furniture in Langhorne/Oxford Valley, PA (also known as Value City). We purchased (for an additional fee) an Extended No Worry Warranty for 5 years and 4 years later, the vinyl started cracking and peeling apart, so I called.
I was told to send photos which I did immediately. They said they'd review them and get back to me. They never did, so I called them again and after being on hold for 5 minutes, the woman came back and told me it wasn't covered as I didn't report it within 5 days of happening, which the warranty does say. Now the warranty clearly does state that, "Cracking and peeling of leather finish" IS covered, so I ask you...since when does leather start cracking and peeling within only 5 days? I called as soon as I noticed it (as I had a protective cover on it to alleviate sticking to the leather which I removed to wash) and it was a soft material, so that certainly didn't cause it.
I was so angry that I checked the internet for problems from other consumers and noticed a TON of complaints on just this same sort of thing! If I call my Lawyer, it would cost well more than the value of the chair so I guess I'm screwed, especially sinceI have 2 chairs and now one of them is ruined.....thus, so goes it for a matching pair. I half a mind to picket the store!
I guess I should have know better as anything called Value City indicates cheap quality and I guess I should have researched the internet before I made such an expensive purchase!
