Ashworth College , PCDI Course Paid in Full but no materials sent. No Response to emails or certified letters. Norcross, Virginia
On January 21, 2007 I paid in full for a course in Business Management for my grandson. Since that time, no course materials have been received.
I first attempted registration in November 2006 and the money was not charged and no materials appeared then, either. After many phone calls it was determined that his name was mistaken for another person who had no paid them so they simply ignored the whole thing.
I was promised an $85 discount to pay in full at registration. The full amount was charged to my credit card instead.
Multiple attempts to contact this company by email, snail mail, and phone have yielded no results. The only answer I received was first, "No record is found of any promised discount." (It was made over the phone registration.) Second, "We have resent the materials on this date (February 28). They have not yet arrived.
Phone calls to their published numbers have resulted only in: Waits ranging from 30 minutes to 90 minutes.
A referral to another number. Unsatisfactory answers or lies. There was no response at all to my demand to return my money in full. Do they just keep the money as long as they can to invest it? Or are they just totally incompetent? WHAT is their problem?
Does anyone know the name of the CEO or President of the company? I just want to get out of the whole thing with a full return of my money. If this is any indication of how they do business I want nothing to do with them.
I would also appreciate knowing of another distance learning institution that someone has had good experience with.

I signed up and paid for The Medical Billing Course w/online access for all my exams. This was 2/06. I finished my course in Dec., received my diploma & was happy with the feedback from my clients old & new with my knowledge.
I am a work at home Medical Billing Specialist who needed to refresh myself and update my information. I did not go through Ashworth College. They gave me a discount also for paying in full, which was honored. I then received my student number and ALL of my materials at my request. I will have to say, though, you are definetly right about getting them to answer an email or a message when you call.
I had to make numerous requests for 2 lost exams that I had received s 100% grade on & the new coding books I had paid for. When I sent an email & left a message threatening to turn them into the BBB, they called me back in 2 days, sent my books and found those 2 missing exams. Other than the bad customer service, I was pleased with the course & the positve results from my clients.
My husband just returned from Iraq (Bless all soldiers over there, it's pure Hell my husband said) & without this course to keep me busy, I think I would have been more stressed than I was. Maybe this will help someone else. Good luck. I heard Universary of Phoenix online is good.

So far, Cancellation Requests Ignored

I understand your frustration in regards to ashworth's failure to respond. I remember when I considered enrolling in Ashworth, I stopped short of signing the electronic agreements. Ashworth called my cell phone 3-4 times a day for a month and I have the phone records to prove it. I decided to give Ashworth's graduate program a try, since they offer a monthly payment option and a masters degree that can supplement my doctoral studies. After reading the comments here on the ripoffreport and various discussion mediums, I decided against ashworth and enrolled in a RA accredited university.
I sent a enrollment cancellation request on April 17,2007 through telegram. I also e-mailed them on the morning of April 19, 2007. Ashworth has not responded. To be fair, I will continue to send cancellation requests through various mediums and allow time to communicate. However, I will document these requests. If Ashworth does not respond in three weeks, I will send my documents requesting cancellation of enrollment and a letter to the state of Georgia, CHEA, DETC, BBB, and an attorney as a final option. My advice is to be clear and to the point. Keep all written documents in a file. Be persistent. I will keep this thread updated and hope ashworth moves in the right direction.
