I was cruising on the I-net on CareerBuilders( a job search Site) and came across American Sales Network. They offered help for people looking for work- they are essentially Headhunters, and hook people up with Job Opportunities (or so I gather).

I ended up on the phone w/ one of their reps,and he talked me into signing up for their services; I was told I would be billed "$27.95 + shipping & handling". So, imagine my surprise when my Bank Statement showed a charge for ASN for $98.99!!! I called ASN up, complained loudly, sent a scathing E-mail or two;I was told that  in addition to the Basic Service, I had been sent a "course to check out" (for which I was sent a Very Thin book about 8" x 9" x 1/4" thick).The rep explained this accounted for the extra charge. I told him in No uncertain terms that I thought I had been scammed; he said the initial $27.95 + S/H was NOT refundable; but he could issue a credit on my card for the balance of approx. $66.( BTB, I was NEVER told by the rep on the initial call that I would be paying extra for this "course".)

I told him this was not good enough and that I planned on getting my bank involved & would file reports against ASN. He stood his ground, and would Not refund the whole amount. Long story short, I DID  get my bank involved; they managed to get the whole amount($99) taken off my balance; however, this took a few months and several reports/forms being filled out & sent back & forth between the bank & myself.

My Conclusion: IF you do use ASN (and I'd  recommend NOT doing so) Be VERY careful about what they are charging you for; get it all spelled out; and don't agreed to any extra fees.

In short, it seems to me that ASN is rather dishonest  in their approach.

If anyone else needs a more compelling reason to not deal with ASN, you MAY  want to look these klowns up on the Better Business Bureau website.... where they  were given a "grade"  of "F" !!! From the various disgruntled job -seekers posting on  the BBB site, (and there were quite a few of them!)it appears that ASN has a Modus Operandi that pretty much follows my experience with these rapscallions:
They set the Job-Seeker up with a "Basic"  Resume service for  $27.95 +S/H;
THEN they dun the poor Job-seekers credit card for $99!!! Niiiice!!!

This has apparently happened time and again with these scammers; they try to explain it as a "miscommunication " or some other BS; the fact is they are disreputable scammers, plain & simple, who prey on the desperate & vulnerable, hoping the job -seeker will
perhaps let it slide when they discover they have been charged some silly "course" they  never agreed to in the 1st place !

BEWARE!!! Stay away from ASN..they are Charlatans  of the worst kind!!
