The ASPCA spends a lot of time and money trying to solicit contributions.I have seen first hand how the ASPCA operates when someone knows of animals in the process of being tortured to death and is begging the ASPCA for advice, an investigation, a referral to someone else-SOMETHING!! Both the situation and the ASPCA's conduct were equally nauseating.I was the person begging them to help, in June 2010, when I knew of cats in the process of being intentionally poisioned to death. The ASPCA did NOTHING! Would not even return calls. When I was finally able to get a live person to answer their phones after several days I was told that the ASPCA doesn't do anything to help animals being intentionally poisioned to death with anitfreeze in southwest Missouri and the only suggestion was the flippant comment that I could call the local prosecutor back, when I had just explained that the prosecutor didn't want to do anything.
I implore anyone who is thinking of donating to the ASPCA to first find out for yourself how the ASPCA really operates when someone needs their help, becasue of animals known to be in imminent danger.
If the ASPCA can't be bothered to  answer the phone, let alone make a phone call or two to see if they can save some animals' lives, please, please give the donation to a more deserving organization.
