I sent a check to Aspire in October 2003 to pay my bill in full.

I received another bill in November 2003 with late fees added to the October bill. It was a relatively small amount and I sent them another check.

In December 2003 I started getting calls from the Indian company to which Aspire has outsourced its customer service. Five calls or so per day.

This is the point where I realized that Aspire had miscredited two different checks.

Next time they called, I explained the situation and was told they would stop calling. Of course they did not stop calling until several days later.

I also told Aspire to cancel my account because I do not like the way they do business.

The bank mailed back the cancelled check from November in January and I faxed copies of both checks to Aspire.

Several calls and faxes later the issue was settled.

I learned in March that Aspire has reported to credit bureaus that my account was 60 days past due and closed at Aspire's request.

I disputed the entry and Aspire continues to maintain that even though the check arrived on time, the account was past due because it was not cleared in their system until January, even after Aspire has removed all late fees and interest.
