My Mom forwarded a letter that was sent to my grandfather's house from ASSet Acceptance, LLC. It stated that I owed B of A $250. I ran my credit report from three agencies and it is not there. I happened to have an old credit report from the early 90's(1991) and low and behold there it is.

I have no idea what this money owed to B Of A is about. What ever it was they lost their chance to collect it back in the 90's. What kind of low life company tries to collect on a debt from the early 90's??? If anyone from ASSet Acceptance is out there-KISS MY ARSE!!!! You cannot collect on a debt after 7 years. I doubt there is even proof of what the original debt is from.

I've been reading horror stories about ASSet Acceptance Corp. What a bunch of scum bags. I believe in Karma, and Karma is coming for you ASSet Acceptance!!!

Here is what you can do......

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, November 27, 2005

First, everyone needs to educate themselves about the "Fair Debt Collection Act". Look it up on the internet search engines, it is a LAW. Now that you know what collectors can and cannot do, if the debt is from over 7 years ago, write a letter to both collection agency and each of the three major credit reporting agencies. DEMAND that they remove the alleged debt, AND don't forget to quote the Fair Debt Collection Act. Make them aware that you know your rights! You also have a RIGHT to have the three major credit reporting agencies file a "consumer statement" in their credit report(s) to make potential creditors aware of your rebuttal to a specific debt or other derogotary info. in your credit report. Best of luck to you~
