I was on here reading all the complaints about Asset Acceptance LLC and wanted to write about my own problems with this company. I received what looked like a bill from Asset Acceptance about a month ago welcoming me as a customer. I know that this account is not a valid account they are trying to collect on and I don't owe them any money so I sent them request for validation via certified Mail and also reminded them of the SOL for PA. Did I mention that the alleged account is over 12 years old that they are saying I owe for and way past the SOL in Pa? Oh Wait, it gets better...lol got the return green card back in the mail with someone's signature on it.

Well about two weeks go by....nothing from asset. Then one day out of the blue I get a letter, I anxiously tear open the envelope and you will never guess what I found.... Well it sure as hell wasn't any validation letter..lol It was some kind of settlement offer from a Law Firm that Asset passed the info on to.
Major violation of the FDCPA on the part of Asset.( I took the time to read up on that) www.ftc.gov

I immediately took the liberty of reporting them to the Attorney General's office (actually I did that at the first sign of asset) and to the FTC. Then I took it to the next level and contacted an Attorney. My attorney filed a lawsuit against both the scummy law firm and Asset. I am waiting to hear back from them and trust me (with all the drama I have had so far I can't wait to see what story they come up with). I am going to make them wish they never contacted me at all..

If you are being harrassed by any Collection Agency you can speak to an attorney for free go to (((ROR redacted link))) fill out the FREE CASE REVIEW CONTACT. I had several attorneys contact me about this case. However, the one I chose specializes in going after these JDC and he agreed to work on contingency. Some lawyers do work on contigency for these cases. You just have to look for an attorney that specializes in Consumer Law.(((ROR redacted link))) is also another place to go to find lawyers who specialize in Consumer Law.

As for Steve From Florida, I know you are not a lawyer but I have read most of your posts and I am very impressed with the way you have handled yourself with these debt collectors. The information you provide here is very valuable to consumers who are dealing with scummy debt collectors like Asset. While, I am a firm believer in paying off debts that you owe. I dont believe in dealing with Collection Agencies that harrass, break the law and lie and cheat to extort money out of people that they dont owe and that the Collection agency is not legally entitled to. Notice also in my post you wont find anywhere where I wrote about ever calling Asset Acceptance and speaking to them on the phone. NEVER DO THAT! Steve is very right! STAY OFF THE PHONE WITH THESE PEOPLE AND GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.

Anyway, I will keep everyone updated.
