Complaint Review: Assetcare Creditor Medclr

As reported in another dispute on this website, I too received the "form" letter about settling an account with a 50% total balance due.It gave me a website to visit for payment and a registratin code. We called about the "debt" and they informed us that the only information that they can give us is that it is outstanding since 1992. I saw another "form" letter to dispute but it talked aobut California codes and law. My question is, Are the codes in GA similar to those in CA? Where would I look for such information to dispute this claim.
