Complaint Review: Assurance Wireless

I started looking into complaints about Assurance Wireless after the trouble I've had with them. 

At the end of December 2011 I was diagnosed with cancer and had to stop working. I'm fighting Social Security to get disability benefits they have denied. Social Security has seen fit to give me SSI benefits in the amount of $165/month. I also get a food stamp benefit from the state of Texas. According to Assurance Wireless, that is two qualifying reasons I should be able to get a phone and service.

I have submitted 4 applications, along with the required documentation, to Assurance and am still be denied service. I've called them several times and get different answers as to why I'm denied. Once I was told the reason was that Lite-UP Texas, the agency the qualifies you, had not approved it. I spoke to people in the Lite-UP office and they show I AM qualified. 

I've tried to get both the Assurance Wireless people and the Lite-UP Texas people on the phone at the same time, however, due to the long queue (over 20 minutes) for the Assurance rep, the Lite-UP people won't stay on the phone.

A telephone is essential to me. I go to the doctor several times a week while I go through chemo therapy and whatever process the doctors will prescribe. 

Yes, I know I should be grateful to be able to get a "free phone and airtime". I am very grateful for all the assistance I have received through this very difficult and trying illness. Assurance Wireless has done nothing but add a great deal of stress though to my situation. Honestly, I'm sure they could do a better job. I'm hoping that perhaps someone from the company will see this and help me. I'd be glad to shut up about all this.

One thing I have noticed as I scan and read through the complaints on here is how mean spirited some people are with their posts. PLEASE don't judge other people until you have been in their place in life. A few words of encouragement would really go a long way for us. I glad life is good and abundant for you and instead of being ugly to people that aren't so lucky, maybe you should just keep your comments to yourself.
