I have had my Samsung S III over 1 year (the hardware replacement warranty is expired).   But bought Asurion replacement insurance sold through Verizon - and other carriers - and have been paying Verizon monthly for the premium (basic replacement plan).   Now the Microphone went out on the phone (can't hear me when I say "hello"). The problem was confirmed by Verizon after ~1 hr on the service call.  Asurion REFUSED to replace my phone (even with $100) deductible....because it was not in an accident (no physical damage) and not dropped in the ocean or toilet (no water damage)  & was not in a car accident.

Read the fine print, that is what the contract states.

They moral of the story???  Don’t fall for this scam insurance and/or if you already have like me. BEFORE you file a claim on a hardware problem related phone….either drop it out the window first (so you have visible damage) or “accidently” shower with it.  Then you will not have to lie to get the phone replaced for an unknown cause of defect.
