When one finds fraudulent 3rd party billing on their AT&T bill, one finds that AT&T is hostel, nasty, and uncooperative in attempting to deal with the problem. AT&T refuses to block third party billing. AT&T refuses to send a letter stating they refuse to block 3rd party billing. They also refuse to send the proof they are supposed to require to prove the billing they are doing for ILD is legitimate. Since one is always told one signed up on line, even when one didn't, this proof would be server logs that show the IP of the person who signed up. This IP can be traced back to a service provider, normally in China. This proves there is great doubt that the person whose phone is being charged actually ordered the service. AT&T refuses to provide this information when requested. They will not even provide the web address where one supposedly signed up. Calling AT&T on the lack of real proof was the only way I got them to "reverse" the charges. A year ago when all four phone lines had fraudulent charges, AT&T stated they would block third party billing. They now deny ever saying that. They lie.
Calling ILD gets the same song and dance. They also only dropped the charges when I demanded the server logs. They also attempt to refuse to block third part billing. They tell you AT&T must block 3rd party billing. They tell you AT%T does it all the time. Ask them to fax you that while you are on the phone with them. They don't. However, when one informs them that the PUC said they must block third party billing, they say they will, but they don't. You must send them a fax and a snail mail with delivery confirmation that has your name, address, phone numbers you want blocked, and stating that they have now been notified and that if this is not enough to inform them that any future billing by them to these numbers is knowingly partaking in fraud, then they must inform you at your address what information they need to block your phone number forever. ILD could care less about the PUC and attempts to tell you they don't have to do this. Just insist, send the fax and the mail and file a complaint on-line with the PUC.
Also call the service that ILD claims to be billing for. Demand they also block the number and never ever bill it again. Send them a fax in the same form as the one to ILD. For kicks and grins ask them for the server logs. They also don't have them.

Had the same thing happen to me. ILD was charging me $13.95 a month on my AT&T phone bill for some BS service I had never signed up for. As a matter of fact I had never heard of ILD until they showed up on my AT&T phone bill. When I called AT&T they weren't very helpful, totally useless and told me there was nothing they could do and I would have to call ILD directly and handle it myself, which I did. I also called AT&T back and TOLD AND E-MAILED them, that if I saw another bill from ILD, I would CANCEL AT&T at BOTH my home and office and find a new carrier. Got calls AND e-mails from a supervisor from AT&T who was very helpful and explained the situation and would make sure I would not be bothered by ILD any further. He refunded their charges on the spot. I filed complaints with the Texas PUC. When these rip-off companies start costing AT&T customers, they'll do something about it.
