I switched all of my services to AT&T (DSL, Cell phones, Direct TV) because I am an employee and I want to support the company that writes my paychecks. Mistake! My cell phone bill is always wrong, and the $125 rebate I was supposed to get for switching from broadband cable to DSL at the beginning of 2009 (I mailed it on 3/30/09, but the offer was good till the end of May 09), never came. So I followed up at the beginning of July 09 by calling their rebate center, and I was rudely told that I am not eligible due to not having a landline (which is in their current promotion's terms and conditions, but wasn't in the one I sent in), and that because I am an employee, I don't "get" rebates.

I asked why I was never told I didn't qualify for the rebate due to the landline issue, and they said they sent me a postcard. That postcard was never received. I asked if they had a copy of my promotion so that they could see that I did not need a landline for the promotion I was trying to get, and they told me that they don't keep records!! I asked where it was written that I was not eligible due to being an employee, and I was told it wasn't written anywhere..that it's just a "known fact". This is not true of course, as I have received rebates in the past as an employee, as have my co-workers. They just don't want to pay.

When I pressed for more proof, they said that due to the fact my promotion ended in May 09, it was a moot point because my promotion is expired.

I have sent complaints to the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission. They cannot be allowed to treat customers so poorly.
