I am disabled, I live on income that is per Washington state far below the poverty level. I live alone and out in the country where I can afford to live cheaply. I neded an emergency phone, since I cannot afford a land line and a cell I made a choice and began searching the best deals; since I could not go out to a store to talk to someone I used the internet and my land line.

AT&T seemed to be very nice and have the best deals for my income (not being able to afford and not wishing to be locked into a contract) I looked at the "Go Phone".
I liked what I saw to some extent and proceeded to get help from the "chat now help agent".

After over an hour explaining my issues and what I wanted she "Assured" me she had the answers I went further saying I "required a guaruntee" for any and all money spent as I could not go further without it, she said no problem, that as long as I sent it all back within a month under their terms and conditions which I read (she directed me to them) and agreed too I would get all the money back.

SO of course it did not work out I got my money back for the phone but have spent so far a total of 3 days and almost 13 hours trying to get the rest back (140.00 and some change).

I met all of their terms BUT what they no-one bothered to tell me was that if you buy a Go Phone OR ANY Prepaid phone from AT&T you are NOT entitled to ANY money back on the minutes.When Christine/the rep. who sold me the package made me the guaruntee (I took a snapshot and have it saved) and told me to read the return policy it was not for the Go Phone it was in the regular area for contracts as that is where we were looking for the phone I wanted.

I have explained countless times the situation to them and they said and I quote "to bad lady those are the rules, I am sorry you were mislead our sales people often do that but there is nothing I can do".

One guy even said I was crazy and laughed when I asked for a supervisor, when I said I was going to contact the BBB this place and the state attorney general he laughed and gave me his name and ID#.

This story is much longer and uglier but I am literally sick because of all the stress it has caused me, I am going to follow through with the steps to get the word out there I am sure I am not the only one who has been treated like this by AT&T I am making sure that everyone knows how they have treated a disabled poor person who was trying to make her life a little bit safer and now is out the money that I went without to make that happen and will never see and as if that is not bad enough they treat you like you are a piece of garbage.

I have spent more than 14.5 hours now trying to get my money back, I do not think I explained myself well in the original report the lone and short of it is: I am disabled and live below the poverty level, to try and help myself I wanted to have an emergency line, I lost everything when I became disabled so now I have bad credit.

When being helped by the "chat box rep" for at&t we were looking in contracted phones I said I need to be able to get my money back if there was a problem she said NO PLROBLEM read the terms and conditions and then we will move forward, there was the whole issue; under those phones you can get a FULL REFUND BUT NOT ANY Prepaid phone for at&t.

She Never told me that the terms and conditions were any different for other phones, the real kicker is that even though they have these maps to check service in your area if you live in mountain region like me they still may not work so you have to purchase the phone to find out ok fine, BUT in order to make the phone work you have to buy minutes! So who in there right mind would buy minutes just to see if the phone worked knowing they WOULD NEVER get their money back?

So since I was in the contract area when all this went down I also thought I was getting 3.5 cents per minute which really was 12.5 cents a minute. Now I hate to call people names but you can't have everything all your own way so either this person who was "Helping" me knew what she was doing and did not care because she wanted to sale or she was confused due to the maps and guarantee that I wanted and the phone and package and etc.

But how ever you figure it it is not my fault, when I realized what a rotten deal they were giving me I canceled and have been fighting trying to get my money back, I have been called names and laughed at and threatened to contact agencies only to be laughed at some more and given their names and id numbers.

It is obvious that at&t does not care about anything or anyone and of course they are so big that they do not even know or care how their customers are treated.

When even today I said because of my disabilities I am in contact with a lot of agencies that always want information to pass along to others that I would be letting them know and I even told them about the thousands of complaints they said "sorry nothing I can do".

Bad ethics, dishonesty and a general lack of integrity are everywhere these days, but when a company is so big that the only thing they truly care about is the almighty dollar so much that they STEAL from disabled poverty ridden people who are trying to help themselves is really pathetic and down right sickening.

I have had trouble in the past since becoming disabled from rotten people but always when the supervisors found out they made things right NOT at&t They told me the page to read the terms she told me I would get a full refund I have it all saved and they have gotten away with it all.
