After having numerous issues with AT&T Home Entertainment and living in an area that they were the ONLY cable/phone/internet provider, I finally cancelled service a month before I was scheduled to move out of my apartment. I mailed back my receivers in the prepaid boxes given to me by my apartment office and called to confirm with my tracking numbers that they were received. Once I confirmed the receivers were received I threw away my tracking number.

Months later I am now receiving letters and phone calls from CDI credit management for $880 for failure to return equipment. If this is not bad enough, I have been charged every single month for service when 1) I already cancelled service and 2) they don't service my new apartment however; it seems that every time I call and they tell me something is taken care of it is a lie. I have spoken with several managers and have even asked for them to pull the tapes where they told me that they received my boxes and they just ignore me or hang up on me.

I refuse to pay this charge and think it's ridiculous that my credit might be affected by fraudulent charges. I did my part and have made several attempts to fix their mistakes and yet they do not care nor do they believe in customer service.

I have called my old apartments and they can't find the log of the shipment as the box is paid for and tracked by AT&T and I have contacted UPS who also cannot disclose information to me as I am not AT&T. I feel scammed and cheated and will continue to do whatever it takes to get these charges off my credit and to inform others of their scams and poor customer service. I have had so many problems and this is just the icing on a very bad cake.

Beware and stay away!!!

Why did you throw away the tracking number? That is like throwing away old tax return info.

If you DID check the package progress online using your tracking number, could you have a record on your computer?

My theory is that these cable & satellite companies DO NOT [OFFICIALLY] want their ex-customer's returned equipment because that equipment is USED. It is better [for them] to have YOU pay for brand new equipment that they will then provide to their next new customer, while they junk the USED equipment that you had returned. This is called extra profit.
