I signed up for AT&T local service because I was promised that for 35.80 per month I would receive unlimited calls within the state of Illinois. I just received my phone bill it was $105.44. I called AT&T and they said and I quote "your not the first one we have heard this from". AT&T does not have a plan that includes all calls in Illinois as part of your local service.

They refuse to issue credit to me for the long distance charges even though they admitted that I was lied to by their marketing people. The only offer that was made was to re-rate the long distance calls to lower the bill which was still higher than the long distance carrier I do use. How generous! AT&T's comment to me was that I will be held responsible for the calls because I did make them and it doesn't matter that I was lied to about the plan that I signed up for.

Well I'm back with Ameritech, I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau, I have sent information to CBS on the rip-off and plan to file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office. My advice to everyone is use anybody but AT&T their customer service sucks!
