Vehicle broke down on I-5 in Southern Oregon on a Sunday afternoon in 90 degree weather.  None of us had a Smartphone, so we called a relative and they were able to provide the roadside assistance number for AT&T. Thank goodness we had a cell signal.
The AT&T person was able to pinpoint where we were and coordinated the tow truck.  The tow service was going to cost us $60.  We were told that we need to arrange transportation for the people in the vehicle because the tow truck wasn't going to be able to carry all 6 of us.

I asked where do I get the information for a taxi, the AT&T person was helping but was told by his manager that they only assist with towing not transportation.  They recommended that we call 911 for that support.  We called back our relative and they gave us several numbers for taxi companies.  I thought 911 was for emergencies?

We were also called back by AT&T and was told our cost would now be $80.  It turns out the tow truck driver could of carried all of us and he was also given the wrong location.  The tow truck driver was surprised that we called a taxi.  The taxi ride cost us $40.  I've canceled this service with AT&T.
