AT&T Sheisty Sales Reps Sells Unnecessary Services to Elderly Dallas Texas

I moved in with my grandmom after my grandpa passed away this year. She kept worrying about her phone bill so I decided to look at her home phone bill with AT&T.

I couldn't believe my eyes! She had been paying for unlimited long distance ($24.95 + taxes/mo) and "inside wire protection" ($7.50/mo) in addition to her regular Complete Choice Plan for local service ($29.99/mo + taxes).

So I went online and changed her plan. She didn't need unlimited long distance and I had to call AT&T to have the "inside wire protection" removed (because it wasn't even shown on the website). The AT&T customer service rep pretty much said that it wasn't needed because any repairs with the phone lines would be free of charge.

I saved my grandmom almost $40/mo... something the sales rep claimed to do when he came to her house that day! They know who to target.

I worked for TCIM Services/AT&T Communications in Longview, Texas. It was common practice for employees to sign people up for services that they didn't need. Pressure was placed on employees to sign people up for unneeded services. Also, people were shystered into signing up for DISH-TV and wireless plans through cingular. Customers were lied to about the plans in order to get them to sign up. The reasoning behind this was that employees were supposedly to get commissions from these sales. From what i saw, employees never received their commissions. So the customer would get screwed right along with the employees. Also, from working with AT&T, I realized that many California customers were being billed twice for the same taxes. Customers would call in all the time and I would have to explain the taxes. My supervisor Bill Tatum told me to lie about the taxes. Bill Tatum told me I would be fired if I didn't lie.
