Atlanta Blue Jays Baseball, a travel baseball club based in metro Atlanta, recruited and organized an age 15 and under team for the 2015 Spring/Summer tournament season.  A number of players/families joined the team and paid fees for the 2015 Summer tournament season.  On Monday, June 1st, on a conference call with the families, the club announced that there would be no 2015 Spring/Summer team due to coaches and some players leaving the club.  During 2015 there were no services rendered, practices held or any games played.  On that June 1st conference call, the club indicated that a full refund was available. However, as of June 13 no refund has been received and the owner indicated via email he is unable to pay at this time.   The owner had no idea how much had been paid, indicating poor record keeping.

SERVE HIM NOW, IN JAIL

Anyone trying to serve Anthony Dye can do so now at Gwinnett County jail. He has avoided service for so long, but can't hide now. Act quickly so cases can now finally be heard. They WILL serve him in jail.

Good to know you have legal expertise because if you're associating with these guys you'll be needing it. Too many programs are able to help kids get where they want to get nowadays. The Blue Jays was one of the first major players; however, that's definitely not the case anymore. Anthony Dye lacks the ability to live an ethical and moral life. He's had it coming to him for years now.. And you better believe it's going to come down hard. The door is already cracked and waiting to get kicked open. His precious little pet, aka Steve Louriero, should really consider getting out before it's too late.

Yes, we've done our research as well. It's not just the Bookkeeper case. Continue to look into Mr Dye & you will find plenty of information. He has lied not only to parents & players but to authorities. He avoids service & even has his family lie as to his whereabouts. He claimed last summer, to parents, that he had to get a 2nd mortgage on his house to pay for the season. Not true, and quite easy to find out. See a new report filed this week regarding a team he said he was going to have & didnt! What happened to that money? What happened to that coach? The website lists him as a coach still, but he quit. This man has got to be stopped. People want what he says he can do & they lose sight of right & wrong.

I have been contacted by the BlueJays, and, as a businessman with legal expertise, I wanted to do research. I am quite familiar with this site as it is a disgraceful smear campaign site that often speaks libelious slander again people and companies. However, I am entitled to do my research.

I called the Cobb County Sheriff Department and was told by the fraudulent investigator that the person who was the "bookkeeper" was in fact arrested and then released on bond. Therefore, the investigator's part is done, but the matter is with the District Attorney as I was told and that case will take time.

I continued by research and spoke with baseball people and coaches (this is my youngest son so I have been through the rodeo) and I heard rave reviews from people in the business about the coaches, preparations and how they are unlike these other programs that are truly profiting with their tons of team per age group. I have been on that misadventure with my other son.

I can't speak on the other matter with reinbursement but my gut tells me that if the DA is involved with the bookkeeper situation, then it is potentially serious on that person who was entrusted with the funds.

I know to do my research before listening to parents. I hope people do their research as well.

Serving him should be easier now that the Blue Jays are in full swing again. Just insist that they serve him at "work" and find out where & when the team will be playing. It's fairly easy to do with all the Perfect Game tournaments showing the schedules. July is the BEST time to find him. Insist that the authorities serve him there. They will. It's sad he can do what he did & continues to do, & it's sad he can get his wife to lie for him as well. You're doing what he hopes everyone he's ripped off does - & that's give up. Please push on & make him accountable. No charges ever filed on a bookkeeper, but he tried to have people get their own banks to pay them back for credit card charges HE received. He gets the money either way. Who wants a man like this around their sons?

Never got our money back

#31Author of original report

Tue, June 28, 2016

We never got our money back from the Atlanta Blue Jays after they took our money and cancelled the spring 2015 season before we ever had our first spring tournament and even before our first spring practice.  We filed a small claims suit but it did not go to court because Anthony Dye avoided being served.  They went to his door at least 3 times and a woman answered but said he was not there.  The Sheriff's office said they felt sure he was indeed there but was avoiding being served.  Anthony Dye knows how to cheat people out of money and get away with it.  Wish we had never even heard of the Atlanta Blue Jays.  Sad - especially for boys who had their hearts set on playing the game of baseball that they love and put their hard earned money toward it.

If you are a parent of a player from last summer, why would you be seeking a refund?  I do see that you believe that the "coaches" paid for your son to have his season with baseball.  Don't assume.  Mr. Loureiro is a school teacher and Mr. Dye, well no one seems to know what he does besides the Blue Jays.  He seems sketchy with just about every area of his life.  He also told parents that he refinanced his house, which he didn't.  He owes a lot of people a lot of money.  Many of us ex-employees are just writing it off because it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to get our money.  If you indeed called your credit card company and THEY refunded the money because of fraud, that wasn't Mr. Dye.  He knew how to work the system.   Your bank gave you that money back, not him or his company.

He very well could have thrown this Ms. Rodrigues under the bus and easily.  Hopefully the ongoing investigation will prove the truth and this man and his minions will not be allowed to use and abuse people any further for their own financial gain.  In looking into the woman who was the supposed "bookkeeper," it appears her brother was on the Blue Jays in the past.  She and Mr. Dye have been personally involved since at least 2005 or 2006.  I'm curious as this plays out what the outcome will be.  Hopefully he won't be able to avoid everything else he has avoided over the years & the truth will finally be revealed.  Believe me, he's VERY good at making people believe him.  Going to extremes doesn't even tell what he would do to convince people.  I've seen it first hand.  It's sad.

Bookkeeper Arrested

#31Consumer Comment

Mon, March 14, 2016

As a parent of a player from last summer, I am appalled all that has been said.  I contacted my credit card company as instructed by the coaches at beginning of summer with regards to the fraud and received a full refund. The coaches took the whole summer on the chin, and their actions towards my son did not come near reflecting what has been said here.  Some of the people on this board seem to have a personal vendetta against the program.  It is a shame.  By the way, there is an ongoing investigation from what I have been told after contacting the authorities.  Also, the bookkeeper was indeed arrested for her actions and now district attorney is following suit with investigation:

SERVE ALL PARTIES

If you are having difficulty with a defendant avoiding service, try serving all parties involved with the business.  The registered agent of the corporation should be served.  You can call 404-656-2817 or look online for information regarding information about the Atlanta Blue Jays corporations (https://ecorp.sos.ga.gov/BusinessSearch) There are more than one, but they are all Mr. Dye's businesses.  He may not be the registered agent, so if you are suing him AND the business, you can serve the agent and at least get the business served that way.  Also, I would advise to write the Better Business Bureau if you haven't already and continue to update them on the issue(s).  They have already given the business a F rating.  You can write to the Secretary of State, corporations division, as well and notify them of the issues with the business.

TRY SERVICE BY PUBLICATION

#31Consumer Comment

Mon, February 29, 2016

If you go before a judge, he/she may allow service by publication since Mr. Dye is avoiding service.  It's worth a try.  If he/she won't allow it, you can always get a private server.  Explain to the judge that he has a home address and also has a P.O. Box for the Atlanta Blue Jays.  If he gets his mail, but won't sign for certified items, then that proves that he is avoiding. If you try the private server first, then you will be able to tell the judge that both the sheriff and a private server could not get him served because of avoidance.  Most likely the judge will allow service by publication or possibly nail and mail (leaving a notice on the door and mailing one as well).

DON'T GIVE UP

#31Consumer Comment

Fri, February 26, 2016

Yes, this seems to be an issue with others as well.  Please don't give up.  That's what he wants.  He hides to avoid being caught, but if all the parents are persistent we can stop this man from doing the same thing to others.  Let the investigator with Cobb county know what is going on as well (the one who was told about a  bookkeeper who took money from the Atlanta Blue Jays).  He said he has tried several times to meet with Mr. Dye and he doesn't show up.  The other coach (Steve) is no help.  He only defends Mr. Dye, not willing to see the truth I guess.   Do NOT call anyone that either coach gives you a name and number for - it will be false information.  Call Cobb county directly and speak with the officer assigned to this case.  They will eventually get him served.  He can't hide forever.  You can also ask a judge to allow service at his residence to another person, such as his wife.  He/she may allow that if you also mail a copy to his P.O. Box for the Atlanta Blue Jays (on website) and his home address.  If the server or sheriff can see someone in the home, even if they refuse to answer, he can leave the papers at the door and walk away.  Even though it's over $200, the judge may approve a "nail and mail" since he is avoiding service.  Just get this order and everything can still proceed.  I am planning on hiring a private process server.  I can't see just letting this man get away with ripping people off.  I did look into the fact that he said he got a second mortgage on his house and it was not true.   He simply took money from people.

If you know any other parents affected by this, please ask them to sue.  Check back frequently to find updates.  I am not going to stop until justice is served.

No, we never received a refund.  We tried to sue in small claims court but Anthony Dye never came to the door of his house to receive the notice from the sheriff - after several attempts.  Unfortunately the way the court system is set up, guys like him win.  I hope people see this website and this prevents other people from loosing money like we did.

REFUND??

#31Consumer Comment

Thu, February 25, 2016

I'm curious as to if there was ever a refund issued to the parents who paid Mr. Dye for their sons to play on a team that was never organized.  Please advise.  Thank you.

If not, I would like to please ask these parents sue Mr. Dye and the Atlanta Blue Jays organization.  If that isn't done, he will continue to manipulate and use people and their money for his own financial gain.  After speaking with the investigator who is still unable to confirm that any "bookkeeper" took money from the company, his only suggestion was to sue.  The end result may be the same, but there would be record of the wrongdoing and others could be helped.  Mr. Dye advised parents that he had to get a 2nd mortgage on his house because of the bookkeeper stealing money, which is untrue.  That information is very accessible.

Whose truth

#31Consumer Comment

Sun, October 04, 2015

If you want the truth, from experience, you should never believe a thing Mr. Dye says. Why ask "the owner" if he is the one lying? How would scouts or other coaches know that he is ripping people off? He's good at what he does. There has been nothing slanderous written here. Everything is backed by facts. You may be new, but many of us know the past & what he really is about. The Cobb sheriffs office was given notice but not by Mr. Dye. He never contacted anyone. THEY contacted him. Let it play out. Your son can learn baseball from him if thats all you care about. However, he should have made sure all those parents were refunded their money. Open & honest are not two words that describe that man. He most likely handed you a huge story & made it appear true. That's what he does. Curious how open & honest he was about his incarceration. I agree with the person who said maybe that's where the money went. That's a huge purge amount. Bottom line is he should have refunded their money. He said he didn't even know what they paid! The business never folded so that bookkeeper, if there is one, didn't break the business.

THERE IS INVESTIGATION! JUST CALLED AUTHORITIES WHO CONFIRMED!

Fri, October 02, 2015

Hi everyone, we recently joined the Blue jays.  We have done tons of research talking to players, parents, and coaches and scouts at events, and all remarks completely contradict the remarks made here.  However, I have been around the block and know if you want to get  truth, talk with the owner and confirm.  I spoke with Mr. Dye, who was open and honest to the investigation.  He has a lawyer and the investigator gave the case number as of yesterday I believe.  I called the investigator and he corroborated everything Mr. Dye said.  I asked Mr. Dye about the remarks made here, and his response was open and honest- Measures will be taken to address the slanderous remarks with law suits.  Again, I called the investiagotor again who confirmed that the measures and complaint has indeed happened.  We are happy with Mr. Dye's openness and honesty and the conirmation by the authorities only eases my worries.

THERE IS NO ACTIVE INVESTIGATION

#31Consumer Comment

Wed, September 23, 2015

Feel free to call Cobb County Sherriff's office and find out that there is NO active investigation and that no one has filed a complaint.  They are aware of the situation, but no complaint has been filed as of yet regarding any embezzlement or stealing of funds from the Blue Jays.  Apparently they are aware of it because a parent called and reported the fraud.  It seems that whoever said there would probably be no bookkeeper is right.  Mr. Dye continues to string people/players/parents along with his stories.

Recommendation for anyone who was affected financially is to sue the Atlanta Blue Jays and/or Mr. Dye.  If there was no contract it may be difficult, but if you have proof of payment you should still try.  If you were affected and have not called the fraud unit at the Sherriff's department, do that.  They can tell you all the above is true and factual.

Be careful if giving any money to this organization or to Mr. Dye himself.

Investigate

#31Consumer Comment

Wed, September 02, 2015

Since you did in fact talk with authorities, do you mind telling us who so we can follow up as well.  I wasn't able to find out the same information.  Is there actually an investigator assigned and charges, etc on a certain person?  We would hope that we could all get "together" in this (the ones affected) so we can find a solution.  In looking at the state records for this business, there are no new officers (Mr. Dye and a Lina Rodrigues are only officers listed). There are three (or possibly more) Atlanta Blue Jays companies with Mr. Dye as an officer.   The original one also listed an Atlanta police officer as an officer and it seems that corporation is still operating as well.  Previous accountant says that she has not done business with Mr. Dye since 2011.  In investigating, there are several issues of concern.  It appears that Mr. Dye is not really honest about the business or about many other things.  He doesn't provide necessary information to the state or other agencies as required.  You may not care what Mr. Dye's personal life involves, but some of us do care what type of people our sons are being influenced by.  The personal life of anyone who is spending so much time with our kids is important, no matter if he is a great baseball coach or not.  I have to say, after all the information I have obtained and after talking to many people who feel they were taken advantage of, integrity is definitely lacking.

Please help in providing the name of the investigator and/or case number or anything that would help in our efforts.  Thank you and best of luck to you and your son.

Payment was asked for by Anthony Dye and Atlanta Blue Jays

#31Consumer Comment

Sun, August 30, 2015

To respond to the family and player who is going with the Blue Jays, best of luck and we hope it works well for you and your son.  Wanted to correct something you mentioned.  Players were asked to pay for the 2015 spring/summer season by Anthony Dye himself on a Callingpost conference call on November 3rd 2014.  Immediately after that call, on the same day, he sent me an email with a detailed cost breakdown and also with an attached schedule of a payment plan in installments.  All fees for the season were asked to be completely paid by January 30, 2015.  This message and attachments even included a note about late fees, so was very directive and specific.

Bottom line is that players paid for the season which never happened and at least for us, no money has been refunded.  At this point there is no indication from the Atlanta Blue Jays of any intention to refund the money.  Regardless of whatever fraud is going on within the Blue Jays organization, which they have indicated they are sorting out with Cobb County police, the facts are money was paid where directed by the organization for services that were never provided.  So again best of luck, and my advice is just pay as you go through the season to ensure that you get value from the investment you are making on behalf of your son.

To all of the allegations, I agree to do your research which I did. I contacted the authorities who indicated that indeed there was fraud and that a formal complaint with evidence was being processed by Cobb County. I then actually called one of the coaches who indicated that there were was never a team for that particular age group but there were 2 players who had paid fees, although against the wishes of the coaches because team was not yet filled. The coach (not Anthony or Steve but a coach who said he used to coach with you and now has returned) said that the issue is being resolved. With all that said, I am not familiar with the personal life of the coach, nor am I interested. I have contacted a bunch of parents and players of the program, however, who informed me of all the situation and their experiences. I recently sat in on a practice and spoke with Anthony afterward. We will play with the Blue Jays. They offer far better than any of these other "Elite" programs out there. My son will be treated as an individual not as cattle.

Real Truth....please

#31UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, July 31, 2015

GA411, I can appreciate your defending Mr. Dye, however all I ask is that you investigate ON YOUR OWN- not with his guidance. He has never been a man of his word, at least not since starting the Blue Jays. If you were notified at the beginning of the summer that someone stole money from them,  & they had to get loans, there should have been no reason why he could not have refunded an entire team their money. If you are involved in travel ball, you know how hard it would be for those players to find a team after June 1.  That was heartless.

I don't know how long you have known Mr Dye, or really what you know about him, but it's probably not even true that anyone stole money.  Mr Loureiro seemed to be a stand-up guy when I was there, however he was very easily persuaded by Mr Dye. They had many disagreements in front of me, but AD would always get his way. Steve is the only employee who is still involved. All the others left.  Most of us are still owed money, some in excess of $1000. It wasn't worth our time or money to try to get him to pay us. We all just moved on with our lives.  However, now I do feel bad for not stopping his behavior. He's a con artist. He had all of the parents and players, when I was involved, believing that he had played in the Royals organization. Just that alone proves that he is not a man of his word. After that it was just one lie after another. This man even denied his own son to all of us.

I have worked in baseball for years, and with any travel teams, we provide the parents, the people who give us money, all of our financial records. They need to see where their money is being spent. I urge you to ask him to show you the financial records, and to investigate where that money goes. One reason I left is because he was using money inappropriately. He wasn't using his own money, he was using money of other parents and telling them that the hotels and the buses and the tournament fees etc cost more than they did. I know of him taking money from the kids to supposedly tip the bus driver and then putting all of that cash in his pocket. Besides all of the lies, I could not be affiliated with this type of person. He does know baseball, but he is in no way a good leader for our young men. He cheats on his wife continually - even if the boys don't see it, we all knew.

As with any con artist, he is very good at what he does. If you are working with an investigator in Cobb County for criminal charges on a bookkeeper, don't let up. I guarantee that the ending will be much different than what you expected. I'm assuming you got the name of the bookkeeper?  Probably not. I also highly doubt that Mr Dye took out a loan on his home. You will never find proof of that - guaranteed. He may have convinced Mr.  Loureiro to take out a loan telling him that money was stolen, but again, it's probably not even true that there was money stolen. I believe that Steve would believe anything that AD told him.

I do understand that the coaches practiced with your boys - thats their job!  Its great that your son formed friendships because thats important in team sports, but he would have done that on any team.  However, I would discourage your son from talking to AD personally. He can't teach him anything about being a good man, only about baseball. If your son, or any players, are good enough to get drafted, he will use him & them.

Bottom line - investigate.

Real Truth Here

#31UPDATE Employee ..inside information

Wed, July 22, 2015

I am appalled by the statements made by the Ex Employee. First of all, my son just finished up his 17U season with the Atlanta Blue Jays. Anthony Dye is a man of his word! At the beginning of summer, the parents were notified that the former bookkeeper stole money over the past 2 years. We were given the Cobb County major phone number for criminal activity and worked on getting fraud charges on the bookeeper, which is ongoing as would be investigations. Therefore, as a result of the criminal activity by the bookeeper, Anthony and Steve took out loans against their homes so that the 17U season can happen. They practiced with the kids tirelessly and helped them constantly and delivered everything they promised. Our schedule was top notch and the exposure was unreal. I can't thank them enough for being mentors and leaders for our kids. My son formed lifelong friendships with players from in and out of state as well as former players from the beginning. Every time they need something they talk to Anthony. As far as the libelous remarks made to investigate and call BBB as well as bitter remarks, I feel bad for you. For the former player, grow up!

As an ex involved party with the Atlanta Blue Jays, I'm sorry to say you will most likely never see that refund. This has been the "owner's" practice for years. There are players who never pay but can ride the financial coat-tails of those that do. I mean, how could he not refund you if there were no services provided? The money was probably spent for his other team. Mr. Dye will get close to few elite players hoping they can bring him financial gain & bump his reputation in the business. He will bring those players close & even their families. He's a con artist. Its never about the kid, but about what the kid can do for him. That's why he seeks out of town high school players who are getting recognition in other states. If he sees that there's nothing in it for him, he disappears. He will attempt to get these good players to sign with an agency of his choice - more $ for him. Ethical is not in his vocabulary. You should all demand a financial statement & ask to see all records. They probably aren't there. He thinks if he ignores the calls & emails they will go away. Don't give up. His horribleness needs to be stopped. Steve is the only coach who has remained with the organizaton. All the others saw his (Dye's) true colors.
