Understanding it is a Repo company, still when you have made all the payments to get your vehicle back-you get it back damaged!

My Dodge pick-up was taken and when I was able to retrieve it. All I got was the run around for a few days. Then, when I was told to contact the Manager to make arrangements, mysteriously within minutes the repo guy Joe calls. Lies and says I've been trying to reach you.

Then the day comes and it's nothing but excuses on the time. Wouldn't even tell me where it's located exactly, just to meet him at some used car lot. Is this where it's been sitting??? Then he can't meet at the arranged time and sends some stranger and tell me to hand over the money to him.

Not only did I have to do this to get my truck back-BUT NO RECEIPT WAS GIVEN! Nor was a release signed! I see my truck and the driver's side mirror has a crack and doesn't sit in the base-I am forced to tape it just to drive it home. The driver's siide door is full of scratches and chipped paint. Why? The headlights don't work! They worked fine before. All the tires have very low air pressure. The interior has black grease stains on the headliner. All the contents of the vehicle were thrown all over the truck and some put in a styrofoam cooler. Guess he couldn't find anything good because it was all removed prior.

Then he didn't even have the nerve to face me and sent someone else instead! And referring to me as Hon on the phone-disgusting! Thought I was some dumb woman-NOT! Although I fell on bad times (no job) and became late on my payments, I was able to get the money to keep it but

I still shouldn't have to get ripped off in this way. I have also filed a complain with the BBB and am thinking to pursue in court!

Perhaps you haven't had any issue with them, but what I stated was completely true.

Yes, I was met at a used car lot when I went to pick up my truck; however, I had to sit and wait for my truck to arrive, it wasn't sitting in the lot.

The damage I stated was all done by whoever used the vehicle while they had it. Not only damage, but well over 1,000 miles. Now let's see, you stated the miles from my home to Philly around 100 or so miles - how do you explain almost 1100 miles? After I had the vehicle a few days, I noticed even more damage and worst of all, stolen items from the interior and exterior. There were different tires on it and the tailgate straps were 10" too short. How could I have ever missed those things for all the years I had the vehicle?

The truck never ran the same after I got it back either. I had just had work done to it and it ran like a champ. When I got it back, it ran like crap. The front end had damage like it had been off road. My mechanic knew that truck in and out and he would tell anyone I never abused it. How did I all of a sudden bend up and break front end parts?

I know for a fact that my finance company stopped using them after I called to complain to them. The reason they stopped using them was because of all the complaints they received.

So, believe what you wish. You can badmouth me or anyone who has a repo against them, but I am an honest woman and I know an unhonest company when I see one. I'm sure some of your statements apply to some people, but not to me. Why would I make up this stuff if I got my vehicle back?

Have experience working with Atlantic Adjustment Company - this doesn't jive

I work for a company that hires Atlantic remotely to handle recoveries in PA. I have experience with the way they do business as a rule; they are efficient, reponsive and proffessional. I also have experience with unhappy people who have had their cars reposessed and find they have to pay even more to redeem their vehicle. It's not fun, and people get angry and embarrased. Understandably so. Some people handle it better than others.

It is possible that Annmarie's story is true, but based on my dealings with the owner and the results they have provided for us in the past, I find it very implausible. For example, why be all fired up that her vehicle was at a used car lot? Many agents have a remarketing side to their business, and considering the distance from E Stroudsburg to Philly (about 106 miles), this was probably a contracted agent associated with Atlantic. Probably the agent was out in the field when she came and just had another employee give her the car. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

It is never pleasant to fall behind, and even worse to find your car has been taken from you. But the bottom line is, when you do fall behind and don't turn in the unit (which Annemarie would have had the option to do), the bank has every right to take it because they own it. It is not uncommon for people in this situation to make claims of damage that was already there.

Also, the bank can not send out an agent after your car without a Right to Cure, or, in PA, a Letter of Intent. So Annemarie knew this was coming. I have never had a problem getting a signed release form or a vehicle condition report when working with Atlantic. it's a tough, unpleasant business and they handle it well in my experience.

I'm sorry about Annmarie losing her job and having her car recovered, but be very careful about swallowing her accusations. Crooked agents are out there, but I very much doubt any of them work for Atlantic - or if they do, they don't last long.
